10 Farm Financial Mistakes & How To Avoid Them

Workshop 9:00am - 3:30pm.

Workshop goals:

1. Share experience and provide an overview about what solid farm financial management looks like.

2. Using interactive audience participation and expert farm accounting expertise, we will discuss some common pitfalls, strategies to stay on track, and existing resources available to help you and your agriculture business thrive. Subjects include but not limited to:

• Government risk management strategies
• Know your costs
• Other risk management strategies
• Look at your farm as an investment
• Evaluate and prioritize your risks
• Manage your debt
• Tax strategies
• Communicate
• Operate your farm as a business – know your market
• Long-term planning

3. Leave you with a better understanding of their individual farm finances and/or next steps for improvement.

4. Learn about BC Ministry of Agriculture Business Risk Management programs, BC Agri-Business Planning programs, peer support and the importance of maintaining regional industry associations.
