Green Drinks Ottawa - Green Ventures!

Thu Oct 10, 2019, Ottawa, ON

Come join us on Thursday, October 10th for Green Drinks October. We'll be talking about worms and cli-fi fiction! This month we will be welcoming 2 guest speakers, Akil Mesiwala and David Chernushenko.

Thrills. chills, fact and fiction
David Chernushenko, Author, Burning Souls

The new genre of cli-fi is here. David Chernushenko will talk about his motivation for writing the climate breakdown thriller Burning Souls, and give you a spine-tingling taste.

David is a speaker, writer, film producer and explorer of “living lightly.”

Why do I have thousands of earthworms as pets?
Akil Mesiwala, The Box of Life

Vermi-composting is an impactful action an individual can take to tackle the climate crisis - lowers emissions from landfills, creates organic fertilizer, and increases knowledge of natural living systems - all while being cozy indoors. Akil will be bringing a Worm Studio to talk about how easy it is to use one of them inside your homes.

Akil is passionate about composting and shares his apartment with his partner, their cat and earthworms. It took him a couple of years before he could touch a worm but now he needs to constantly remind himself to wash his hands after workshops.
