Hike for Renewable Energy: Power Trip Trail

Do you want to see Canada’s first solar roof site?

Do you want to learn about solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind and more?

Come join us on a 1.6 km guided hiking trip at the Kortright Centre for Conservation, lead by a Sustainable Technologies Specialist with 25 years experience in the solar photovoltaic and wind industry.

The Power Trip Trail is one of Canada’s largest educational demonstrations of renewable energy technologies. During this hike, there will be demonstrations and discussions on how we can make informed decisions in our everyday lives and further reduce our carbon footprint.

Hike for Renewable Energy: Power Trip Trail

Date and time: 9:45am - 12pm, Sat Aug 12th, 2017 (meet at visitor center at 9:45am)

Location: Visitor Center, Kortright Centre for Conservation, 9550 Pine Valley Drive, Woodbridge, ON

What is on the Power Trip Trail:
• Canada’s first solar roof site (installed in 1982)
• Canada’s first PV solar shingle demonstration
• Solar photovoltaic test site (trackers, free-standing etc.)
• Energy cottage
• Solar water heating system
• Wind turbines
• Wood energy
• Earth energy – ground source heat pumps
• Wastewater treatment
• Archetype Sustainable Homes – two of Canada’s Greenest Homes

Price: $20 -- Price includes the Kortright Centre entrance fee ($6.5+HST) + 2 hour guided trip + water and light snacks
