Responsible Trade Summit - Sierra Club Canada

Fri Jun 23, 2017, Ottawa, ON

Sierra Club Canada Foundation is hosting an event to discuss implications of trade agreements on our ability to protect the environment and to formulate a model for sustainable and successful trade agreements of the future.

As you may know, trade agreements can impact almost all areas of life from health care, labour, social equity, privacy, sustainability and national sovereignty. They can diminish and even eliminate regulations and policies for dealing with climate change among other pressing social and environmental issues.

With so many massive trade agreements on the table and so little understanding about their implications, we would like to invite you to Sierra Club's Fishbowl discussion about the issues and solutions. You will get to witness discussions among leading experts in the field and have the chance to ask questions and participate - it's bound to be an interesting day. Its a great way to learn about this complicated topic!

Experts attending the event include:
• Ben Beachy - Director of the Sierra Club US’s Responsible Trade Program.
• Scott Sinclair - Senior Research Fellow with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, Director of Trade and Investment Research Project
• Claude Vaillancourt - President of ATTAC Québec
• Ronald Labonté - Canada Research Chair in Globalization and Health Equity at the School of Epidemiology, Public Heath and Preventative Medicine
