Perseids Meteor Weekend - Dark Sky Preserve

Fri Aug 11 to Mon Aug 14, 2017, Manitoulin Island, ON

Stay with us for the most amazing meteor showers of the year. Expect to see over 60 beautifully coloured meteors per hour leading up to the peak on August 12th and after. Activities & workshops include a welcome wine & cheese reception, guided public astronomy & laser guided sky tour sessions, nature interpretive centre, horseshoe tournament, children’s playground, wind up campfire & pot luck supper.

Join us for the most amazing meteor showers of the year, camping & observing the Perseids & the beautiful night skies of Manitoulin on site in the RASC designated dark sky preserve at Gordon’s Park. The DSP offers exceptional dark skies, (darkest in Ontario), no light pollution & 360 degree observing. Participants can expect to see over 60 beautifully coloured meteors per hour leading up to the peak Friday Aug 12th and after!

Camping In the Dark Sky Preserve

Camping is rustic but comfortable & takes place in the fields & meadows in the dark sky preserve. Some picnic tables & cook stands, hauled water, clean privies, eco showers & flush toilets at main building, private gravel road access. No campfires or white light allowed. Flashlights must be filtered red.

Registration:

Registration Fee is $45.00 & tax per person,
per day, $95.00 & tax per family per day
(2 adults, children under 16) and includes
Camping in the RASC designated Dark Sky Preserve, Wine & Cheese Welcome, Public Astronomy Sessions, Laser Guided Sky Tour, Pot Luck Supper, Group Photo, Nature Interpretive Center, Hiking Trails, Mini Putt, Badminton, Horseshoes, Bocce Ball.

Activities are subject to change.
